NATURE AND CULTURE INTERNATIONAL
PROVIDING THE CATAYLST FOR LOCAL PEOPLE TO PROTECT THEIR OWN LANDS AND WATERS
Nature and Culture International (NCI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit conservation organization founded in 1997 with the mission of preserving biologically diverse ecosystems, in concert with local peoples in Latin America. NCI has played the central role in the concrete protection of 8,700,000 acres of rainforest and other imperiled tropical forest ecosystems by working effectively with local and indigenous communities, and national and regional governments, in establishing parks and reserves.
Our fundamental ethic is to build conservation capacity by working with local entities so that solutions originate within developing countries, rather than being prescribed from the outside. Nature and Culture International is guided by a respect for the culture and people of the places in which the crucial work of preserving habitats and the life-support services they provide is accomplished. www.natureandculture.org
